Save The Rose video presentation
Friends of the Rose will know that a twenty-five minute video is available for viewing at the Rose on Open Days. Narrated by Sir Ian McKellen it includes an excerpt from Lord Olivier's last ever recorded speech. It documents the discovery of the Rose site in 1989 and the subsequent campaign to prevent the proposed new building works going ahead and burying the Rose forever. A clip is presented here that includes the end of Lord Olivier's speech which typifies those exciting days when interest in the Save the Rose campaign peaked across the nation and the rest of the world.
