THE ROSE REVEALED PROJECT

The Rose Revealed Project was awarded a development grant of £248,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund to work up its plans to preserve the archaeological site of the Elizabethan theatre on London’s Bankside and to create a visitor and performance centre.

Kim Stabler was appointed as the Project Manager for the Development Phase of the project. Kim is a respected archaeologist, with many years’ experience in London. She most recently headed English Heritage’s Greater London Archaeological Advisory Service.

The HLF grant has enabled The Rose Playhouse, during 2013, to prepare the detailed plans for archaeology, conservation, architecture and design and other aspects of the project essential for its second phase, its successful delivery on the ground. The plans will be completed by the end of September 2014, but we are already aware that the projected cost will be £5m.

The Trust is actively pursuing funding from grant-making institutions and from individuals to raise this target figure.
